How to reset an iPhone 3GS with a password?
I found an iPhone 3GS that's locked with a passcode. How do I reset it? I have tried by holding the home button and then plugging it into my computer, but it doesn't work. I think a recent software update has changed the phone such that it can only be unlocked in a different way.
Added (1). I should add that I'm not interested in responses that advise me to return the phone. I can't find the original owner. The original owner hasn't even attempted to contact the phone. So just help me unlock it or don't bother to respond.
That's stealing. Return it to the owner. Also, you may want to check this out:

You may think it doesn't relate to you if you don't live in NY, but this is proof that the government takes stealing seriously (even iPhone's). If you would like a iPhone 3GS, they are free with contracts now from most carriers. Don't be a criminal.
- Will the MAC address of my iPhone reset if I reset my iPhone to its factory settings over iTunes? I have jailbroken my device and used terminal to change my MAC address so that I could connect to school's Wi-Fi. But when I wanted to change it to its initial number, I typed in a wrong value and it just messed up my Wi-Fi, I can't connect to Wi-Fi anymore. Wonder if resetting to factory settings would help…
- My iPhone is locked and I can't remember the password it only lets me try one password before locking down now it says connect to iTunes? What am I supposed to do? I have connected to iTunes but it says it needs me to answer on my phone and I can't do that
- Is there any way I can use my deceased father's iphone X even though I don't know his password or his e-mail password? My dad passed away recently. He had a fairly new iPhone X. I'd like to use it as my own phone but I don't know the passcode. I watched a video on how to restore the phone but I still can't use it because the phone is connected to an itunes account… And since i don't know his e-mail password, i can't reset it. I went to AT&T (where we were on a family plan) but they said they can't help me. Is his nearly new phone destined to be a paper weight?
- I'm trying to ease all contents and setting from my iPhone 7 and it's asking for a password but I don't have a password Ok so I recently got an iPhone 7 and when I opened it up it was a clean slate nothing on it. However when I tried to restore my old phone's data I restored the wrong phone. I tried to go into setting and ease all contents but it asked for a password that I didn't put into my phone and didn't create. I have no clue what to do.
