Is there any way I can use my deceased father's iphone X even though I don't know his password or his e-mail password?
My dad passed away recently. He had a fairly new iPhone X. I'd like to use it as my own phone but I don't know the passcode. I watched a video on how to restore the phone but I still can't use it because the phone is connected to an itunes account… And since i don't know his e-mail password, i can't reset it. I went to AT&T (where we were on a family plan) but they said they can't help me. Is his nearly new phone destined to be a paper weight?
Maybe take it to an apple store and explain the situation. Maybe call customer service ahead of time. As long as you have permission to use it, can't hurt to ask.
Call Apple for a complete reset
Here is what they (Apple) did for a friend's family after the death of a family member, with a locked iPhone. First the phone was left to a child. So the family asked Apple what they needed to be able to allow the child to use the phone. Proof it was left to the person in question. Proof of the original owners death certificate, so they could make a copy of it. Could not could not be a snapshot, photocopy/Xerox, and had to have the state seal. The account had to be paid off in full with the current carrier, as well as any installment payments paid off up front as well before anything could be done.
What they did was delete the iCloud account, and fully reset the phone. Once that was done the phone was then able to be activated on any carrier.
How this will work in your case, no idea. You will need to ask.
- Why can I not use any sim card in my iPhone even though it is unlocked? I got an iPhone from a friend who says that the phone is unlocked, but every sim card I try in it seems not to work, it keeps on coming up with the same message that "There's no SIM card installed in the iPhone you are attempting to activate. Please disconnect and insert a SIM card in the iPhone." when have clearly put one in. What can I do?
- My iPhone got disabled even though i'm typing the right password! What do i do? My iPhone got disabled, I remember the password, i type it everyday and yet it keeps getting disabled. What do i do?
- Mail app on iPhone is taking up a lot of space even though it is empty? So recently I've been getting pop ups about my storage being low. I went to check and mail was taking up 5 GB! I went and cleared it out, physically through each folder and deleted everything. Nothing happened. I went and I disabled it and even while disabled it took up lots of space. I turned it off from iCloud too and still nothing. I even went on my account on the computer and deleted everything there yet still nothing. Right now it's at 6.4GB someone please help.
- Is there a way I can switch to Verizon edge even though my 2-year contract isn't up? My poor iPhone 5c has a cracked screen and some of the letters are really hard to use with the screen! I never got Applecare or any type of I've had my iPhone for a 18months (1year & 5months) and I was wondering is it an option to upgrade early and participate with Verizon edge plan even though my two year contract isn't up? I've heard of something called the early edge and is that still available with Verizon or no? (Please NO RUDE COMMENTS!)
