How to reset the iPhone I just found?

I was at a party last week and I came home to find an iPhone in my back pocket. I don't remember how it got there, I asked around to see if anyone would claim it but no one has. Its been a month!
I want to sell it. How do you restart it so everything is new? There's a passcode lock

this works just fine

Lol. You have to take it in to te carried provider to reset te phone due to the lock, an it sounds to me as if someone is setting you up. You should have reported it to the phone company you can get arrested even if it wasn't your fault. You still have a stolen possession in your pocket.

Instead of keeping it, why don't you bring it to the carrier's local shop or an Apple store and see about getting it back to its owner? That would be the right thing to do, since there are likely pictures and things on it the owner would like back.

Besides, the owner probably had it deactivated at this point, and if you tried to use it, once it hits the network, they'll know you're using a lost phone. You could be accused of stealing it.

You should go to Apple and let them try and see who's account it's registered to.

  • Will the MAC address of my iPhone reset if I reset my iPhone to its factory settings over iTunes? I have jailbroken my device and used terminal to change my MAC address so that I could connect to school's Wi-Fi. But when I wanted to change it to its initial number, I typed in a wrong value and it just messed up my Wi-Fi, I can't connect to Wi-Fi anymore. Wonder if resetting to factory settings would help…
  • Just found an Iphone 4s, should i keep it or sell it? - 1 I was cleaning my truck and found it. I let it charge for a bit turned it on and found out it belongs to a relative. I'm leaning towards returning it to them but the calls/messages are over a month old so they may a have a new one by now. But the little devil on my shoulder is also telling me to keep it instead. It's way better than my current phone(pre paid). Lol if it didn't belong to someone i know i would keep without a doubt. But yeah.

  • I found an iPhone, how do i reset it completely? So I was on the bus, & I seen a white long thing under a seat, I waited till the bus got to the stations, then went to see what it was. IT WAS AN iPhone 5. I took it home & reset it, but when I put a sim card in, it goes to a page where it says "This iPhone is already linked to an apple I. D." Then it gave an example like "I***@***.com" How do I reset it? Like I'm mean completely reset it. Get the apple I. D off.
