How to restore a broken jailbroken iphone to a new iPhone?

I dropped my iPhone 4 (jailbroken, iOS 5.1.1) in the water and it died. I tried turning it on, but it didn't, tried charging it, still didn't do anything, then when I connected it to redsn0w and it said it was is "Soft DFU mode". I tried everything and couldn't get it out. I just got a replacement, but my last back was July. 2012. I don't know if I can somehow get all the data off my broken one and put it on the new one. The new iPhone is still a 4. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No idea.

If itunes works you could try to backup the old one and restore the new from the old's backup. If you just want to get some pictures or something off itunes won't work with it, you could try using iPhonebrowser to go into it.iPhonebrowser is free and it's like ssh but it's local so you don't need to actually use the old one.

  • Why can't I restore my jailbroken iPhone 4? I jailbroke my iphone 4 using redsn0w 0.9.10.b6. This was a semi tethered jailbreak and i have turned my phone on and off. I now want to completely remove the jailbreak by restoring my iphone. But iTunes brings up an error- 'firmware not compatible'. I was wondering how i can get past this? (by the way i'm trying to remove it because it no longer works when i download the jailbreak tool- as i deleted it ages ago)
  • When apple replaces a broken iphone, do you get to keep the old broken one? The back camera on my iPhone 4s broke (just stopped working), so I called Apple and I have an appointment set up to replace the old phone with a brand new one. But, I want to know if when they give me the new phone, will they let me keep the old one? The phone still works fine except for the camera. In fact, it's almost perfect. And obviously I want to sell the old one on ebay to make a boat load.
  • What can I do to restore my Unlocked & Jailbroken iPhone 3g? I recently got the phone. I tried to erase everything on the phone while it was near death, and I think it died while doing so. It then went into recovery mode. I tried to put it into iTunes to restore it, but that keeps failing too. The phone has a custom firmware, and I have no idea where or how to get the firmware to properly restore the phone to. Any ideas?
  • Is an iPhone better 'jailbroken' or not 'jailbroken'? I just got the iPhone 5 and I keep hearing about 'jailbreaking' iPhones to be able to do a lot more things. So my question is: Is jailbreaking an iPhone bad? What kind of cool things can I do if I jailbrake it? How do I jailbrake it, if its a good thing?
