How to share and use PC internet on iphone with ios 7 via USB?

I want to share my PC internet on my iphone via USB. I don't have Wi-Fi. I know how to share my phone internet to PC, so please don't answer the other way round. In short I would like to knowhow to do REVERSE TETHERING.

You mention that you don't have a wireless card but perhaps you can share your internet connection wirelessly, through an Ad-Hoc network. I think that's the best way to go, honestly.

This doesn't work for internet:

[PC] --->--(USB)--->--> [iOS Device]

But this probably would, since the iOS device doesn't care, for the most part, where the Wi-Fi is coming from:

[PC] --->--(Wi-Fi)--->--> [iOS Device]

So, you might consider grabbing a wireless card for your PC. Alternatively, a jailbroken iPhone might be able to get more mileage with a USB cable than a vanilla one would.

Iphone 5 not tethering via USB to my PC.
After speaking to Apple tech support and being told by one of their "senior techs" that the iphone 5 is not designed to tether via USB only Wi-Fi or bluetooth I thought it best to look around on here to see if there are any suggestions.

The problem I had was as follows (in case anyone else has the same);

a. Iphone connected to pcvia usb and pc recognised phone (itunes synced and network connections says connected).
b. Personal hotspot on and identifies "1 connection"
c. IE and Chrome both unable to open pages as saying no internet connection.
Seems like there are many on here with the same issue but not fix.

I HAVE SOLVED THIS after hours and hours!
1. Go to… Control Panel > Network Connections
2. Right Click on Apple Mobile Local Area Connection (should say it is connected)
3. Click on Properties
4. New window comes up. Click on Advanced tab
5. Under Internet Connection Sharing header, tick the box that says "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection.
6. Click the OK box at bottom of window.
Since doing this i have been connected to the internet and finally able to open emails etc.
I hope this helps other PC users. I should probably point out that I'm by no means a computer specialist and so can't confirm how secure this connection is so if anyone out there can advise on this and maybe of a safer way to activate the connection then please feel free to let me know.

  • Would it be ok if I connect my iPhone via usb to my internet router? My router is right by my bed and it would be a good power source for my phone to charge on. But is this ok to do?
  • Turn iPhone into as it were an internet router via USB? Is it possible to use your iPhone as if it were to be an internet router, using a computer's internet connection instead of 3G/4G data? I don't have a data plan, and usually I'm in a place without a hotspot nearby.

I can share its cellular connection with my desktop at home which has been working out great even for streaming videos. Is there any reason we should still buy Internet service from an Internet service provider like Comcast, when all I have to do is use the Internet connection from my phone carrier? What are the advantages?
