How to STOP or Detect Car and or IPhone Hacking?
Need some real tech help or input understanding this. When I sometimes park my car a (2012 BMW) I will often leave my Iphone in the car as well, as I do not care for interruptions during meeting. When I come outside, return to my car I will "sometimes find a young adult or two" standing near by working away on there own cellular phones or I will find a car parked next to my vehicle with one person or more all working away on there cellular phones. NO JOKE, this is true. But as a person who has some understanding of the high TECH and, HACKER world. Would they possibly be hacking my stuff? Or am I just being a bit paranoid or could they be doing something unknown to me and if so how would I go about stopping or detour this kind of possible threat.
Added (1). OK, I understand that, So what about the IPHONE and why would someone want that information?
You can't hack a car without ripping into it's computer system, which is most often found within the dash of your vehicle. So in other words, not possible from outside the vehicle. On top of that you would have to be ridiculously intelligent in this field to even pull that off in the first place.
Vehicle electronic control units were, as you can imaging, designed for user convenience… And this approach almost always means security is an afterthought.
And with the incorporation of more and more devices in and out of the vehicle, that means a greater number of pathways to be probed and leveraged.
Hackers constantly push the envelope on everything, so a big ticket item would be a prime target.

As we know, system penetrations only improve over time, never the opposite.
Better check with BMW Service and see if there are any firmware updates.

There are iPhone hacks, which also need to be defended against.
Look into a "Faraday cage" to keep the device shielded from extraneous probing, just to be safer, and certainly not in kept plain view.

I put electricians tape over the dashboard VIN number (drivers side) to prevent casual slurping of it. There are some states that may divulge information about the owner/vehicle with only that info and a few other tidbits.
Security thru obscurity is mandatory every day any more.
