How to switch numbers in verizon?

I ordered an iphone 5 online and added it another line on my account. All i want to do is switch my iphone 4 number to the iphone 5, and put the iphone 5's number into the 4, but its become this whole bid deal that every verizon person i talk to says something diffrent does anyone know and accurate way of doing this

  • Would I be able to switch carriers without having to switch phones? I'm with Consumer Cellular and I have an iPhone SE, but I'm thinking of switching carriers so that I can get unlimited data. I don't want to get a new phone because I've had my current one about six months, I really like it, and it works great. I'm not locked into a contract with Consumer Cellular. Would I be able to switch to another carrier without having to purchase a new phone?

My question is can I buy an iPhone online, and call the Verizon number and have them activate it with my number?   • Switch device on verizon, change data plan required? I have a droid x on verizon, but my phone broke and i wanted to use an old phone to replace it until the iphone 5 comes out in september. I have an unlimited 3g data plan right now that i want to keep, but in order to activate my old phone again verizon says I need to update my data plan. If I update my plan, will I permanently lose my unlimited data plan?
  • Should I switch to Verizon or At&t to get the iPhone? I'm currently with T-Mobile, sharing minutes with my mom and dad. Sadly they don't have the iPhone. I'm switching next summer to Verizon or At&t myself paying for my own line. Which is a better service and cheaper? I would want unlimited Internet and texting and a minimum of about 500 minutes, not much.
