How to tell customer that software are not cover under warranty?

Almost all electronic products warranty only covers hardware.
For example, Iphones, laptop, pc and so on.
Whenever there's software crashes and no hardware fault. Customer keep insisting that warranty should cover it but well it doesn't.
How do we answer professionally to those smart minded customer who keep arguing about it?

You have got it weong. Software is not covered under manufacturer's warranty, but if you sell equipment you are liable for all warranty.

You are liable for support for Windows operating system if you have sold them an OEM license. If you sold them a retail license the Microsoft is liable for support
You should also make clear that you are not responsible for any data loss.
If you got into the situation where the machine could not simply be fixed over the phone then simply instruct the customer to do a system recovery.
Other software that the customer installs over and above that such as office or Adobe you should refer them to the support of the software manufacturer.
All this can be made clear in the T&C in your sellers contract.

  • Will Crapple warranty cover an iPhone destroyed in microwave oven? I put my iPhone in the microwave oven last night, and it totally blacked out after 4 seconds. I opened the door, took the iPhone out, and could not get it to turn back on. This morning, same thing. It won't turn on, it won't charge, and the computer won't recognize it. Will Crapple warranty cover this? Will they know it was damaged by the microwave oven?
  • Will apple still cover me with their 1 year apple warranty? My uncle gave me his iPhone 4S as a gift, it has warranty until November 2013 and for some reason the phone turns off by itself about every 3 hours! The phone does not have any water damage as the water indicators are white, will apple still cover me on fixing it or giving me another one since I'm not the original owner but the phone is still under their warranty!
  • What exactly does apples 1 year warranty cover? I got an iPhone 5 in January and recently I noticed that there's 2 tiny black spots on the screen. I'm guessing they're the size of a pixel or 2. And also one of my volume buttons doesn't seem as clicky as the other one. The main reason I want to get this fixed is that if I wait until next year and suddenly it gets worse I won't be covered by the warranty. Also I won't have time to visit an apple store for about a month hence I'm asking here.
