How to Tetther with Iphone and Linux mint?

I'm trying to connect to the Internet using my Iphone as a modem… My desktop is running Linux mint and I have tried to follow these instructions - http://www.howtogeek.com/68999/how-to-tether-your-iphone-to-your-linux-pc/
but when I try to get or install the ipheth utils I'm getting unable to locate package ipheth dkms?!

See the result here:
sudo apt-get install gvfs ipheth-dkms ipheth-utils
Reading package lists… Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information… Done
E: Unable to locate package ipheth-dkms

Apparently there's something wrong with that repository / ppa: pmcenery/ppa / but I can't figure out what…

Can someone help me to connect?

Hi, it looks to me like E: Unable to locate package ipheth-dkms means that the source hasn't been added, I'm not sure where you would find source, but you can add it by "Software Sources" in the Systems menu I believe.

Surely you could select wireless tether and just connect to your iphone via the wireless card in your laptop (assuming you have wireless - possibly not and thats the reason you doing it via USB)

It may not have a binary for your specific version.

You may have to track down the source and install that way.

  • What is the xxd package in Linux? Also, how do I obtain it using apt-get? I'm trying to ssh into my iPhone to modify a specific hex portion of that game. Basically, make "money" cost nearly nothing. What's the package?
  • What is the best virtual machine software for Linux? I use Linux Kubuntu and I hated virtual box it didn't work hardly at all I tried to run iTunes in it and connect my iPhone and it wouldnt recognize it or anything. I would like to use XP as the virtual machine OS.
  • Is there anywhere to buy a new or mint condition original iPhone (2g NOT 3G)? My first smartphone was the iPhone 2g but then it broke and i was trying to find a new or mint condition one for an iPod just because i love its shape and its old school/original qualities. Please let me know if you know any websites or stores that may still sell them. Hopefully in 32gb or 16gb.
  • I wonder how safe is the online/app Mint? They want my bank account? The online app actually says it will transfer transactions to the app… But I'm so afraid of giving my info. I'm just looking for an app that will allow me to input a budget and help me with that budget. We use the Dave Ramsey way of doing things… Like envelopes, etc. My hubby did have our budget on a word document and so it would show us when different accounts would be paid off. I'm looking for a program/app for my macbook/iphone that is much like this. Any advice?
