How to transfer music from laptop to iPhone 3G?

I have an iPhone 3G and I haven't purchased any songs from iTunes but I have music on my laptop so I was hoping that I could just make a transfer but is it possible and if yes then how do I go about doing so? And when you do eventually transfer the music (hopefully) is it going to be in the iPod folder on my phone?

Add the music to your itunes folder and transfer

Get the usb cord for your phone and connect it to your laptop. Locate the music in iTunes, and drag it over to your phone icon.

Ketsia,
you have to download i-tune setup from apple web site.
open media option - create new playlist - rename the list as per your convince - go to your folder were songs are store - select songs which you want to move in i-phone - copy them - open i-tune - select playlist which you created just now- press Ctrl + V (paste).
This will copy all selected songs in your Phone.

Sync your phone once you done with your activity.

Put the songs in iTunes then put the music on your phone

You have to download iTunes, here is a link http://www.apple.com/.../download/
After installation, you will sync your phone to iTunes (the one installed on your laptop) and then drag and drop music files in its music library. This will auto copy those file in your phone memory.

Open iTunes.

Drag your top level Music folder into it.

If you have ID3 tags, and I sure hope you do, then all your music will get imported into iTunes. ID3 tags is information inside the mp3 files that details artist, album, song name, etc. Any decent mp3 ripping program will add this info automatically when it rips CDs. If you want your music on your iPhone, you need mp3s with proper ID3 tags.

Then when you connect your iPhone, under the Music tag in the iPhone iTunes controls, either select "sync all music" or limit the sync to playlists.

If you are running iTunes below version 11, I can help you. Open iTunes and plug in your iPod. On the left hand side there should be your iPod name, go to your iTunes playlist and drag the songs you want to your iPod. For all of the songs, go to your iPod music library, even if you don't have songs, and on the bottom there should be a blue-ish bar. There might be a box saying "Autofill from iTunes library" click that ONLY if you want All songs from your iTunes to your iPod.

I had the same problem. I found 4Videosoft iPad Manager Platinum to transfer the music from my computer to iPhone. Here are the steps you can follow:

1.download and run the program on your computer

2.connect your iPhone 3G to the program on your computer

3.click "Import file(s)" button to select your music on your laptop and transfer them to iPhone 3G.

Find it and have a free try.
