How to turn off my mobile Internet - iPhone 3GS?

I have an iPhone 3GS, iOS 6.1.3. I'm on 02 and when I'm connected to my Wi-Fi at home, it still uses up my megabytes of Internet. I've tried everything. Is there anyway of disconnecting from my mobile Internet and just use Wi-Fi?

You can tell if your phone is using Wi-Fi by the icon on the top right. There's a Wi-Fi symbol ( http://images.apple.com/search/shortcuts… ) that would show up on your phone. To turn your data off and use only Wi-Fi, go to settings > general > network > and turn off enable 3g. This only turns it off from the 3g network though and defaults it to the lower network. From my understanding there's no way to completely turn off the internet. You can however make it where the Wi-Fi overrides the providers internet when a Wi-Fi is available.
