How to unarchive and iPhone backup in iTunes? (Mac)?
I accidentally archived my iPhone backup in iTunes.
I updated my iPhone to iOS 8 beta (All went smoothly). Then when I tried to restore my data, for some reason it wasn't.
So, I went to Preferences > Devices, then under the Device Backups: I right-clicked the backup to see the options and accidentally pressed archived. Removing it from the device backups. Leaving no way to restore my data.
I've been so stressed trying to work out how to get it back into iTunes so I can use it to restore my iPhone. I've managed to find the raw data in finder… But how do I add it back to iTunes?!
I've re-downloaded iOS 7.1.1, installing now as I type. I just need to restore my backup after.
First person to help resolve this will get the 10 points and my never ending gratitude!
Archiving usually just puts a date on that backup and has your iPhone start with a fresh backup. You can always restore to the archived backup by selecting it in iTunes when you reinstall iOS 7. You can also right click your iPhone in the iTunes sidebar and select "Restore from backup"
Also. If you're installing any iOS 8 beta software be sure to have your UDID registered with a developer using a site like http://appledrunk.net - Otherwise it could leave your iDevice in an unactivated state.
- Is there a way(without computer)to move my texts from my iPad to my IPhone? ICloud backup? Had to restore phone to last backup and lost texts? Hi, yesterday I had to reset my phone (IPhone 8 plus) to factory default and restore it to its last backup (April 15th). I also have an iPad mini, which everything is Synced. I got everything back on my phone (up to date) except my text messages. I'm not able to access my computer right now and have read you can get them back my backing up you messages to ICloud. Is there anything I can do to get them back on my phone (they are still on my iPad mini), without using my Mac?

- Does iCloud Backup Take up more space then iTunes backup? When I backup my iphone on iCloud it takes up 4.7GB of iCloud Storage. When I backup my iphone on my mac with iTunes it only takes up 2.3Gb Apple webstie says itunes backup will backup your phone exactly as it is and that iCloud only backs up important information. So why does backing my iphone take 4.7GB of iCloud space but backing up my iphone with itunes takes up only 2.3gb of space on my mac?
