How to unlock a verizon iphone so i can go through straight talk?
Okay. So i go through straight talk, and the guy said that i would have to get the verizon iphone unlocked and get a SIM card for it. I'm just curious how i do this. Somebody told me that I can take it to the verizon phone to the actual Verizon store and they wouold be more than happy to unlcock it. Is this true? Any other way I could unlock it? Or is it even possible?
Verizon will unlock their iPhone 5 and 5S models per policy, as they are 4G devices, as part of their agreement for some recent purchases of wireless spectrum. Verizon does not have to unlock their iPhone 4/4S phones as they are not 4G models.
In order for Verizon to unlock a particular phone, it has to be a phone that they are required to unlock, and the phone has to be off contract with a clean ESN.
Keep in mind that if Verizon says "no" to the unlock, you can't legally (at this time) take it to a third party and have it unlocked, as the current federal DMCA laws prohibit third party phone unlocking.
You will need to call Verizon customer service in regards to unlock the phone, no "real" Verizon store will do that work for you, as they are paid to bring in and retain Verizon customers, not aid them in leaving.
Unlocking is indeed possible, but due to the DMCA laws, the only legal way to unlock is to manually do it yourself without help from a 3rd party, if Verizon refuses to unlock the phone.
- Should I get Samsung Galaxy SII or iphone 4 through straight talk? Samsung Galaxy has more memory, bigger screen and is $100 cheaper. I've heard mixed reviews through youtube and yahoo answers. Some say samsung, some say iphone, Which do you think will last the longest and is just a better all around phone?
- IPhone through Straight Talk? Good or bad idea? I'm thinking of switching from Verizon to Straight Talk (to purchase an iPhone and their $45 per month unlimited everything plan) but I'm not sure if this is a good choice. The unlimited data part sounds too good to be true. Just wondering what your thoughts are before I make a big investment here.
- IPhone 5 (Straight Talk, Verizon Towers) Can be used on AT&T or T-Mobile? I bought the Straight Talk iPhone 5 at full price, it uses the Verizon Towers, but Verizon doesn't cover my home very well, and I'm wanting to purchase the Straight Talk SIM card, that uses the AT&T towers and get the SIM card cutter tool, but my question is will this work?
- How to switch AT&T iPhone 5 to Straight Talk, Keep old Straight Talk number? I bought a used AT&T iPhone 5 off eBay today for my girlfriend. I also bought a NANO Sim for Straight Talk. She wants to keep her old straight talk number. How do I switch everything over so data, mms, etc works and she keeps her number? There's lots of different info out there right now, I just want some definitive instructions on how to make the switch properly.
