How to write in Hiragana and Kanji?
I'm learning how to read and write Japanese, and I'm writing out sentences on my iPhone using the Romaji keyboard.
Everytime I write a sentence, it pops up in a bar right below, but it shows different characters sometimes. Like every character will be the same as I wrote, but one or two, maybe more, will be huge and different.
I did some research and I found that this is Kanji, and that the common Japanese writing system is Hiragana.
I'm confused! Should I keep the Kanji in my sentences, or should I ignore it and continue writing the sentence in Hiragana? Does it make a difference in the translation/meaning? Should I keep it Hiragana if I want to?
Japanese adults use both hiragana and kanji in their writing, so the program automatically changes the hiragana that would be written as kanji into kanji. Kanji helps to clarify the meaning of same-sounding words.
Only children write without using kanji in Japan. If you know the characters I suggest you use them.
Kanji is main part of Japanese. Many nouns, verb stems, and adjective stems along with names and locations are all written in Kanji.
I suggest you learn the hiragana first and then identify its kanji.
- Tweets showing up that I didn't write? I just made a twitter about a month ago, but I haven't really done anything with it. I'm following one person, and haven't made any tweets. Well on two separate occasions I checked it and it said I had a tweet. They were both like these odd humor ones with some link with it. The second occurance was today, so I deleted it and changed my password. I looked at the apps and the only ones I have are the ones to connect it to the iPhone. Any suggestions?
- Starting to learn Japanese Kanji? I need help on where to start. Any good FREE iPhone apps or websites? I prefer iPhone apps if you can. Any suggestions on how to remember them too?
- Recommended Kanji Dictionary iPhone app? I'm looking for an iPhone app that is a Kanji dictionary where I can write an unknown kanji and it will give me the meaning. I would prefer it if it works even if the stroke order is wrong because I'm not always sure about how to write it. I just need it solely as a dictionary. Teaching/quizzing me isn't necessary Free is the preferred option but I will buy it if it's good.
