I bought a used iphone through paypal and seller is now claiming I locked the iphone myself?
So there's this website called Poshmark.com I found this seller who was selling a iphone 4s 32GB and before I bought it I asked her if it was locked, if it had a bad esn, if anything was wrong with it. She said it was in perfect like new condition and had no problems. She offered me to pay through paypal so I did, I sent her $230. I received it and it is Apple ID LOCKED.Meaning I can't use it, it's pretty much defective and useless. I messaged the seller about this and she kept giving me short answers like she "doesn't" remember the email YET I went on her page on Poshmark and saw that she had actually sold this SAME iphone before but the buyer returned it. I looked at the last comments on the listing and the seller was asking the past buyer if she had left an apple id lock on the phone. The buyer said no.
So I messaged her again telling her I know that the iphone was sold before so quit leading me on. I went onto Paypal and opened a dispute case for item significantly not as described - internally defective. I found out today she DELETED All HER TRANSACTIONS ON POSHMARK, there's NO TRACE OF HER. She then had the nerve to comment on the case telling Paypal that she checked the iphone before she sent it to me to make sure it's not locked and that I possibly locked it myself. Which makes no sense why I would do that?
Can anyone tell me if there's a chance I will get my money back? What could Paypal respond to all of this?
Don't fret. Just be honest calm and upfront with paypal, you will get your refund they are quite used to these disputes. You just need to stay on top of it! Tell paypal the exact chain of events and don't elaborate or make claims that you can't prove (even if you know they are true).
Poshmark still must have SOME kind of record for her transactions, even though she deleted them on her profile. Maybe try contacting and explaining the situation to a poshmark employee or someone, or paypal.
- Would this be coinsidered accidental damage when claiming? I have mobile insurance with my bank Barclays, they cover me for pretty much anything, i have just broken my iphone 6 which was in my pocket, as i got out my car it fell out and into the road and got ran over by a passing car, the screen is smashed and the phone has a slight bend to it. Would this be considered accidental by my bank.
- Is this paypal seller lying to me? Recently, I was scammed into paying for someone's item for them, thinking i was buying an iphone 6. I spoke to the seller and they agreed that they would send the money back when i close the dispute. The amount was £170.10 but they claimed that only 136 pounds was deposited back into their account and that is what they sent me. Were they lying to me as I'm trying to think of what to do next.
