I can't open images sent by others from Whatsapp?

I'm using an iphone 3gs and when my frd sends a photo to me, i can only see the small image loading but when it finishes loading the screen jumps back to the main menu (out of the app) of my phone.
i couldnt open the photo and its not saved to my phone at all.
i've tried reinstalling yet it still didn't work. Is it sth to do with the mobile network and how can i fix it?

It's not really WhatsApp that "plays" the file, but it just calls an external app.
Did you try playing the file from another app (I mean, regardless of whatsapp, just browse to it with another mediaplayer app or a file manager).
The whatsapp media files are located in "/sdcard/WhatsApp/Media"
and the Audio in the "WhatsApp Audio" folder therein.
It might be that one time in the past an app was set as the default player for that type of file, "don't ask again" was checked and that this app could not really play the file. Or that there's just no suitable media player installed or the needed codec is not available. (which is more likely to happen with video than with audio).In that case, just install one.

For the past few days when I try to open a photo the application crashes and closes down. I've deleated it from my iphone 3gs and reinstalled it about 5 times now and it still not working. I've got plenty of space left in the memory and I've reset the phone, nothing is working. Any idea's as to what could be wrong?
  • Whatsapp hasn't sent me confirmation code? Whatsapp hasn't sent me the confirmation code. I've sent my email address to whatsapp's automated SMS number and it hasn't emailed me. It's been over two days. I also tried calling them at a different number where a machine is supposed to give me the code but the call won't go through. What can I do? Ps I'm from Mexico and I'm trying to activate it on my iPhone 5
