I don't really understand, so did the CRTC ban 3 year contracts for good?

I can only afford an iphone with a 3 year contract, because it cost less for the phone itself and with the 2 year contract I have to pay over 75 dollars a month for a MAX plan in order to pay off the phone which I think is ridiculous. I want to know if I can still get a 3 year contract with my carrier.

There must be a reason that you consider this a News or Event issue. I agree with you that it sounds ridiculous. The only one who can answer your question is your carrier, whose the one offering you their plans. Contact them and ask them if you can get a 3 year contract. If you can't, seek another carrier.

  • IPhone 5 and SGS3 on one-year contracts? My current phone is a Samsung Galaxy Ace -- I bought it more than a year ago SIM-free. Now I'm planning to buy either an iPhone 5 or a Samsung Galaxy S3, but their unlocked versions are rather expensive, and all contracts (at least for the S3) are for 2 years… I don't want to have the same phone for 2 years, but all one-year contracts I've seen are for some weak old phones only… Does anyone know if I can find one of these two phones on a one-year contract (UK)?
  • IPhone 4. And 2 year contracts? My mom's birthday is coming up and we thought that for her birthday we would get her an iPhone 4. We don't know when her next two year upgrade is but I was Wondering if I could get the phone now for the price that i would get it if her upgrade was now, and not hook it up to her number yet, and then when she got her upgrade she could use it? Without the upgrade it's about $500 but with it it's $0.So I really need to use the upgrade obviously! Any known information helps.
