I dropped my iPhone 4 in milk?

I dropped my phone in milk, just the top, not anything under the speaker. It worked for about a minute, the lock screen button wouldn't work, then the screen went black and it wouldn't work at all. I tried putting it in a bag of rice overnight, but it still doesn't work. What do I do?

Drink the milk. Because some milk is better than no milk!

Keep it in the rice longer. Since most phones can easily be taken apart, you only need to keep it in the rice over night. But since an iPhone can't and/or is hard to be taken apart, it needs to stay in the rice longer.

First thing first. You are supposed to leave it in rice longer than overnight because it's milk. Milk is thicker than water (what most people tend to drop their phones in). The first thing you should have done is take the battery out. You may have short circuited your phone by turning it back on. You are supposed to take the battery out and put both in a bag of uncooked rice to absorb the liquid. I put my bag of rice in the sun to help with the drying process. Check if there's any damage by the little water damage indicator. Most phones have this by the battery. And some batteries even have an indicator as well. Let your phone sit in the rice for about two days and it should work. I dropped mine in a toilet and did this and it worked fine. Just make sure to wait before turning it on and off again because your phone may risk being fried.

Putting your phone in a bag of uncooked rice will help, but it needs to be in the rice longer than just overnight. Leave it there for a few days, and if it still doesn't work, you can take it to apple. If you have the apple care plan on your phone you can get a new one for free in the apple store.
