I dropped my iphone in water and doesn't want to turn on?

I put it in rice for 1 day then i turned it on and the phone turned on with lines in the middle of the screen what should i do?

Throw it out, and buy a new phone. Your phone is irreparably broken, and Apple will not fix it because they don't cover water damage.

The proper steps would have been to immediately remove the battery from the phone, try to dry everything off as best you can, then leave the phone on a paper towel -- NOT IN RICE -- in a warm sunny place for at least 24 hours so it can dry out. After that, put the battery back in, cross your fingers, and try turning the phone on.

Rice does not dry out water-logged electronic devices. If anything, putting in rice just made things WORSE.

Man that sucks. Water is always bad. If the device was on when it got wet, many circuits could have shorted out. In this case the only way to fix it is replace the defective/damaged parts. That will require expert assistance. If you still have a warranty, i would cash in on that or insurance. If you have neither, its time to get a new phone. Sorry.

You will probably need a new phone. Do you have insurance? Many credit cards have automatic coverage for loss or damage

Go somewhere to get it fixed see if you have warranty then buy a new one

I've had some limited experience with electronics getting wet. Mostly, if you can get the battery out of them quickly, and let them dry out long and good, they start working again.

My son dropped his Kindle Fire in water. While I couldn't take the battery out, I held the power button down for 20 full seconds to turn it all the way off and let it sit for several days after. Then i turned it on and it works again. The screen has some faint blotches, but when the screen is lit up with colors, you don't even see them.

My suggestion is to look at the manual and see if it has something like the Kindle, where doing something will turn it all the way off, then do it. Then let it sit for several days and try again.

  • My iphone dropped in water when can i turn it on? I recently dropped my iPhone in about 3 inches of water and when i picked it up it was pretty wet so i immediately wiped off all the water that i could see and put in a bag of rice to soak out all of the moisture. Its been in there for around 15 hours or so and i checked on it and it gave me the charge sign but i read online to not charge after awhile or it could damage it even further. Should i charge it or should i give it another 12 to 24 hours.
  • My iphone 5s will not turn on. Hard reset doesn't work and itunes doesn't recognise it My phone hasn't turned on in 5 days. Doesn't respond to the charger or being plugged into the computer. I've tried the hard reset a thousand times and nothing happens. ITunes won't recognize my phone so I can't do a factory reset. Can anyone tell me another way of resetting my phone?
  • I dropped my Iphone in water - no water damage showing on indicator? Here is the situation. I dropped my Iphone 5 in the toilet (I hadn't peed yet so all good there). Immediately switched it off, dried it and put it in a bag of rice. This was at about 6 p.m yesterday. This morning without turning it on I opened up the sim compartment to check the circle for water damage (checked online and apparently this is where to check for water damage). The indicator was white. It is back in the rice but I was wondering - when you think it will be ok to turn back on?
  • I dropped my iPhone in water and now the screen won't turn on what should i do? It seems like the phone is still working because it still makes noise when I touch the buttons and my alarm still went off this morning but the screen is completely black. It is in rice now but is that still the best solution if everything is working except my screen? And I know I'm supposed to turn it off but I can't because the screen won't work.
