I have an IPhone 6 which the other week stopped working on any Wi-Fi unless it is about a metre away from the router
This happens on bt Wi-Fi connections even when other devices work on it completely fine, however it does work when on virgin media just fine. Any ideas as to what has caused this?
The question is rather confused:
"stopped working on any Wi-Fi" and "it does work when on virgin media just fine" contradict each other.
By "bt Wi-Fi", do you mean Wi-Fi from a BT router, or are you referring to BTWiFi hotspots? Note: Wi-Fi does not come from the ISP, it comes from the router, which converts the ISP connection to provide Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections.
Log on to your router and try changing the wireless channel to see if interference from other nearby networks is the issue. This can affect certain devices but leave other unaffected. On 2.4 GHz, try all 13 channels. If the phone also supports 5 GHz and the router is a recent BT model, then try 5 GHz instead.
Perhaps you can update the question to add a few clarifications.
- Why doesn't my iPhone 4 have any sound unless headphones are in? I accidentally dropped my iPhone in the tub while I was texting (stupid me!) but fortunately it still works! But when I try to turn the volume up or down, it displays itself as "headphones" even though headphones aren't plugged in! And the sound only works when they are!
- Straight talk iphone won't connect to Wi-Fi unless its really close to router? My iphone won't connect to Wi-Fi unless its really close to the source of it or the router. It is an iphone 4 on straight talk. And the internet connection without Wi-Fi is super slow. It wasn't always like this, just recently. Any help?
- My Wi-Fi won't connect unless I'm right next to the router on my iPhone 6? My Wi-Fi has worked fine on my phone ever since I got it. But lately, it's only been working on my phone right next to the router! Which is weird because it's working for everyone else. It's something wrong with my phone. I'm not sure what it is. Can someone please help me?
- Laptop won't connect to internet unless hardwired into wireless router? - 1 Randomly this afternoon, my laptop stopped connecting to the internet while it was connected to the wireless router. The only way I can get any browsing ability on my laptop is to hard-wire it to my router. I've been googling solutions for hours and have gotten no help. My iPad, and my iPhone have had no problems connecting to the internet via the same router. My computer is connected to the router, but it says "No internet access" I would really appreciate help on this issue
