I'm Scared I'm A Bad Singer, Advice?

When I was younger, about three, I had this sudden instinct that I was to be singer. Twelve years of practicing, singing, and hopes and dreams went into it. I'm 15 now. I've heard on any recording----tablet and an iPhone 4 how I talked. I'm a very insecure person. I have supposetly this really dull voice and I sound horrid. Some friends told me that my voice wasn't low when I said I was insecure about it. Again, friends spare your feelings. But then to other friends I asked if I had a low voice. They said yes. I've been told in the past I have a good voice when I sing. By friends, but I don't believe them. Friends try to spare your feelings. Then came the day that I wanted to try out for America's Got Talent. I sang to my mom over the summer. She said I wasn't ready and recorded the whole thing. I thought I sounded horrid. It sounded plain and I'm very very sad over it… As of when I'm typing this, I'm crying silently. I'm serious about a singing career and that's all I have ever asked for in life. I would rather become a singer than get a boyfriend, even though I'm a hopeless romantic.

I don't know what to do… My mom insulted me over it, my recordings when I talk AND sing sound horrible. I'm not sure if my friends try to spare my feelings or not so I have no idea if I'm a good singer. I'm in an Afterschool Activity called Rock Band. I'm singing for two bands. But I'm still petrified I can't sing. If I can't sing… Well that's it for me. I'll be confused for the rest of my life and I need some advice on how to figure out if I'm or not, and what I should do. I've had my heart and mind set on this career for as long as I could remember.

You say you have done 12 years of practicing singing, but have you also had 12 years of face to face singing lessons with a qualified singing teacher? If you haven't and you want to have go at having a career in singing you need to start the singing lessons now. It takes several years to learn to sing with lessons.

Don't do any auditions for anything like AGT or any other competition until you have had several years of singing lessons and have asked the advice of your teacher.

If you thought that you could learn to sing without having any lessons then you need to understand that you can't. If you parents can't afford to pay for singing lessons for you then you will have to wait until you have finished your education and then pay for your own lessons.

Singing for a career isn't an easier option than any other job.

  • Jessica the famous 1980s singer, I wonder if she is still alive? As you see I photo shot this from my iPhone on my television set. The video of her back in the 1980s. I really do remember it very well from the day it aired on tv. Jessica (malaika trümper) singing like a burning star I've notice online that she just has stuff about her from the time she was famous but nothing said about her today even if she is still alive or not.
  • Isn't it creepy to buy a band's lead singer's iPhone? The lead singer of my favorite band is selling her iPhone on Ebay and I wanted to buy it but I don't want to be creepy. She has a YouTube channel and asked if people would buy it and they said yes and so it's on sale now, but I don't want to buy it and tell my friends and then they call me weird or something. It is my favorite band and I was going to get an iPhone anyway, so I thought "why not?" Is it creepy or am I just being paranoid?
  • I'm scared of losing, what can i do? I usually don't play anything cause i don't wanna lose, for example this words game for iphone, i had a perfect record of 12 wins 0 looses but in a match, my sister was beating me for some points so i panicd and resigned, deleted the app and ill neve play again. I know it sounds silly but i just can't help it, now i'm sad
  • I think i'm a good singer but i'm not sure? Okay i get many compliments on my voice and when i sing, not meaning to sound conceited or braggy, i think i have a very pretty voice. But when i record myself, i think i sound awful. Is a recording taken on an iphone accurate to what your voice sounds like?
