I need details of an iPhone?

My dad has gone to Uk and he said he'd buy me an iPhone. Yesterday, he called me up and said that after we buy and iPhone, we have to spend loads of money for it to actually work. Is it true? My dad said that's what my relatives there told him. :/ Please tell me in detail, after we buy an iPhone what other expenses are there?

The same as any phone. You have to pay for the service from the phone company. In fact, you should get the service first since the phone company will pay for most of the phone if you sign a contract.

Well like any phone you pay for your phone calls, texts or the contract you signed up for (if you bought the phone on contract). Then there the data expenses, the app purchases, the videos or music downloads or other purchases.

So yes there are added expenses after the initial purchase but you don't have to buy everything. For e.g you don't have to make endless phones or send text messages all the time and you don't have to buy all the apps, music or movies out there.
