I plan on traveling to Jamaica soon, how not to get charged?
I'm traveling to Jamaica soon, and still want to be able to use my phone to take pictures and use the Wi-Fi, but not calling or texting. I have an iPhone, and I know that there's an option to "turn off data"; can i just turn my data off and still use the Wi-Fi and camera features to avoid being charged? Or will I get charged regardless?
The Turn off Data' switch you are looking for is turning on Airplane Mode. You have to use this on the plane anyway. It turns everything signal wise in the phone to 'off'. When you arrive turn Airplane back off but also Turn off Cellular Data and any roaming settings you have listed. This will allow only Wi-Fi to pick up. Best luck.
In the setting turn the data to off, leave the Wi-Fi on.
Air plane mode will also turn off you Wi-Fi which you can you still want to use.
You could put it on Airplane Mode which does that as well, plus the Wi-Fi (but could turn it on afterwards) & use that as normal. Switch it back when you return.
- Will the Iphone 5s from apple work in jamaica? I want to order the Iphone 5S unlock and contract free sim-free from apple.com that they just released today. But I'm not sure if it will work in my country (Jamaica). Does anyone know about this?
- Will I get charged for using Wi-Fi when my Sprint data plan is shut off? If I turn off the data plan for my iPhone 5 (with the intention if turning it back on), will I get charged for using the Internet using Wi-Fi?
- Will I get charged for using 3G Internet if I have the unlimited data plan? My carrier is Sprint. I have an iPhone 4. I'm asking if I'll be charged if I don't use Wi-Fi.
- Will I be charged if I receive an oncoming call while traveling abroad? I'm traveling abroad and taking my iPhone. I don't have an international package so I'm not planning on making any calls or sending messages. However, what if someone calls me instead? What will happen if I ignore the call and let it go straight to voicemail? Will I get charged for it?
