I realized I'm not living below my means, how can I start?

I read

1. Avoid the latest tech and smartphones
2. Eat at home
3. Buy used cars
4. Live in a medium size home.
5. Skip starbucks

Currently,

1. I have the newest tech, iPhone 5 with unlimited everything on AT&T.
2. Eat out a lot at restaurants
3. New BMW
4. Have 2 homes and live in a 5, 000 sq ft house
5. Drink it daily

I'm heir to 100k a mo plus 20 mil but am trying to avoid starbucks.

Added (1). I MEANT TO POST THIS IN MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE. SORRY GUYS.

Because this definitely belongs in Marriage & Divorce.

Shut up, Meg!

I do things on both lists.

Rent the other house, for $300 above the monthly mortgage-with a two year lease. But be a good landlord. If things need to get fixed, pay to get them fixed-or at least have an agreement with the tenant that you'll pay half.

Start grocery shopping-especially at public markets and from local farmers and local whole foods/co-ops, and cook EVERYTHING yourself, except for two nights a month.

Brew your own coffee. For the price of two double-talls, you can get a 3lb bag of good Eight O'clock whole bean coffee, grind in the grocery store, and store in your freezer. If you don't like traditional coffee brewers, get a French press, and learn how to use it. If you like all sorts of flavors in your coffee, good grocery stores sell those, too. Use evaporated milk or sweetened condensed milk, or Silk coffee stuff (if'n you do soy instead of dairy)

Donate 10% of your income to a reputable charity every month, like Habitats for Humanity. It's tax deductible, and you are doing a HUGE service to those way less fortunate than you.

  • What language should I start with to start developing iOS apps? If I want to develop iPhone apps, should I learn Python first or just go straight to objective C or learn something else? I have 0 programming skills and have only done some web development. I have a Mac and Xcode.
  • What is the downside of living in the ghetto on welfare? Trayvon had been had him an iphone, ipad, ipod, MacBook Pro, high speed internet access, and he had a wad of cash on his person after the accident. Any white suburban kid would have exactly the same stuff, so I wonder how bad can being "poor" in America be?
  • What does ups means when it says not available? I ordered an iphone and i tracked the shipping and it says not available… It also sent me a note that said the phone has been shipped to my address… Does this mean it's on the way or am i not going to get it for a while?
  • What apps can make living in New York easier? My sister is moving to New York in a few weeks. She has never been and is somewhat intimidated by the whole change. What can make the transition easier? Ipad or iphone apps are the things I'm actually looking for. Maps, restaurants, discounts, anything goes. Anything you think that will make life easier there?
