I reset my iPhone 3 and now it won't turn on

I reset my iphone then it said to leave it for about an hour and now it has been about a day and it still won't turn on. I try ed connecting it to itunes but nothing happens. The screen just shows a black background with the apple logo.

Try this:
1: Power down the phone
2: Hold the home button down
3: Plug it on into computer
4: Keep holding down home button till iTunes recognizes the phone
It should recognize the phone in recovery mode. By the sounds of it something interrupted the erase all content and settings and it could be bricked.

If your iPhone was jailbroken, resetting won't work. You will have to restore and just hold the home +sleep button together for 10 seconds until apple logo disappears and appears again. Now leave the buttons. Your iPhone should start normally.

I got a new phone today and someone is meant to be buying this phone tomorrow so i went to factory reset the phone but when i did it went completely black and wouldn't turn on or do anything. I plugged it into my computer and went on iTunes, it told me my phone was in recovery mode and that i need to restore it through iTunes and so i did. 2 hours of waiting went by and when it was finished it said my iPhone was not "eligible".
