I updated my Iphone 4s to 6.0.1 and it wiped my iphone clean instead. Why is that?

When it goes from iOS 6 to iOS 6.0.1, it's considered a new version, and your phone is wiped clean.

follow this

updated via a mac/pc
1- reconnect your iPhone to your mac/pc.
2- click restore.
3-wait.
4-set up from back up.
5- select the one you want (old iPhone name) and click next.

You didn't have a good backup of your phone data before you updated it, or the backup restore failed.

If your phone is under AppleCare warranty, you can call Apple Support for assistance.

  • My itunes says it hasn't updated een though I updated it? I went to update my iphone and it said I had to update my itunes first and restart my computer (i have a macbook.) So I did all that and went to try and update my phone again and it still said I had to update my itunes first so I did it again and it is still not allowing me to update my iphone. It still says I need the latest version of itunes. What am I do wrong!
  • My iphone 5 has wiped all my stuff I was using my iphone 5 today and it just went blank and told me to plug into my itunes (I have never plugged it into my itunes before) It told me to restore it so I did and now all mu ipod stuff is on my iphone 5 and everything from my iphone 5 is gone (contact, photos, apps) etc Please can someone tell me hoe to get my phone stuff back I'm freaking out! I saved everything to icloud before hand and all my pictures are on my computer already so i'm just nervous about losing my contacts, bu those should be saved to icloud, i'm wondering if I end up having to restore it will my icloud get wiped too or will I be able to get to my contacts again?
