My information maybe a bit dated; but I did examine copyright law; and found that any holder of legal license (the buyer of a CD for example) is allowed to make one 'safety copy.'
So upload and put the original in a drawer for safe keeping.

Use your computer to rip the CD to iTunes.

Make a playlist.

Transfer the playlist to your phone.

I don't think so.

First, rip the CD, then you use iTunes to copy the 'ripped' audio tracks to your phone.

It would take a couple of steps, but yes it is very much possible.

Have to rip the CD to MP3s on a computer. After you do that you can then upload the MP3s to icloud.com and access them on your iphone from there. You can also plug your iphone into a Mac and upload the MP3s via itunes and access them directly that way. There are plenty of applications for ripping cds to mp3s. There are some CD on Amazon that you also get the music in the Amazon Music app to play on your phone. I think Amazon is calling the feature autorip that also gives you MP3 version after the physical CD is sent

  • Iphone 5 bought in the US, could I replace it? Iphone purchased in Feb. 2013. The phone is not at all damaged on the outside.
