If I get kidnapped, can they find me with my iPhone?
Hi, I have the iPhone 5 and I'm really wondering if someone kidnaps me if the police can trace my phone. GOD forbid this ever hopping but I want to know.
Added (1). Hey, why do you have to be mean? Just saying, being mean will get you nowhere in life!
I'm sure nobody would look for you
Yes, I believe so. In 2003 two girls killed the one girl's grandparents by stabbing and then ran away (they were both 15 at the time), the way that the police found them was by tracking where they were through their cell phones.
As long as your phone is on then yes they can trace it and find you.
As long as the iPhone is turned on and within range of a cellular signal the police can trace it. Doesn't even have to be an iPhone for that to work, pretty much any reasonably new (less than 5 years old) cell phone can do that. Newer cellphones have GPS technology built in specifically for this purpose (emergency services being able to locate it).
It's possible unless the kidnapper was smart enough to remove the battery.
To be completely accurate, they can find your iPhone if it is on.
If you are with the iPhone, then that would be good.
I can't see your kidnapper allowing you to you to keep your iPhone.
Does it need to be on a certain setting?
- Can they get into the phone if they know the passcode when it's in lost mode? I had an iPhone with a passcode and it and it got stolen by someone I know. But they know the passcode to get in the phone. If the phone is in lost mode, can they still open the phone with the passcode? Or you you have to disable it through Find my IPhone? I won't report this person but I want to make sure they can't use the phone, even if they have it.
- My iPhone just got stolen and i didn't put on Find my iphone. Is there a way i can find it without find my iphone? I have found out that i can remove my iphone from associated devices. Does doing this erase the iphone?
- Itunes can't find my files and I don't know where they are? I recently downloaded around 50 or so songs using video2mp3.net. When I download the song from the website it has the option of opening the download when it's complete, saveing it, etc., and each ime i just click open because it automatically opens the song in my itunes. After syncing my music to my iphone tons of the songs have exclamation points next to them, saying that they can't be located. I can't find where my computer downloaded the files to, can someone help please!
- I sent a message to a guy on my iPhone, and the message still shows delivered. Why haven't they read it yet? They have an iPhone to The message was sent 2 nights ago. I don't message him often by the way maybe once or twice in a week.
