If I have unlimited texting, is iMessage necessary?
Hi, I just updated my iPhone and now it comes with iMessage. I don't really understand what the point of iMessage is. I already have unlimited texting, so will anything happen if I turn iMessage off? Does having or not having iMessage affect how much is charged on my phone bill?
Nothing happens if you turn IMessage off. All iMessage does is send messages over the Internet. It is free and does not change your bill one bit. I recommend leaving it on because it sends messages quicker over Wi-Fi, but will use up your allotted data if you only have a ceartain amount.
IMessage can only be used when you have a data plan or Wi-Fi connection and only between iPhones, iPads, Macs. If you have a data plan or Wi-Fi connection, then leaving the iMessage on will not incur any additional charges.leaving it off won't cost you anything either. The great thing about iMessage is you can use it to send messages to iPads or Macs provided they are also connected to the internet which you can't do in regular SMS because they are only available between mobile devices.
No nothining bad will happen if you turn it off! Apart from any of your friends want to use iMessage instead of standard texting won't be able to contact you!
- Verizon-no unlimited-will texting a iTouch with iMessage cost me? I'm So CONFUSED… i have the iPhone 4 on Verizon and i use iMessage and regular SMS. I have no unlimited texting WHICH MEANS i can text any Verizon phone for free but if i text any other carrier it is pulled into my 500 count. SO if i text an iPod Touch user that uses iMessage will it get pulled into my 500 count? Cuz the iPod Touches don't have a carrier… So i don't know what to think.
- My iphone 4 says i exceeded $20 in messaging but I have an unlimited texting plan? My iphone 4 says i exceeded $20 in messaging but I have an unlimited texting plan. I don't understand how I could have exceeded my unlimited plan. What do I do?
- Is itunes really necessary if you have an Iphone? I was just wondering because I'm going to try and download ubuntu and since itunes doesn't support this I was wondering if it is really necessary since you can download music and apps and everything else from your phone itself.
- Is it necessary to have a SIM card to transfer pictures off an Iphone? I have an iphone 4 with hundreds of pics on it and have had no luck. Some of the software I've researched online to assist seems shady and in any case all of it only goes as far as the iPhone 4s.
