If I take out the SIM card of my iPhone can I still sell it?

I looked up how to erase everything on my phone to prepare it for selling and it said to take out the SIM card. Does taking out the SIM card prevent the user from doing anything?

Absolutely, you should take out the SIM from your phone before selling it off. If the user get your SIM card, he can make prank calls / texts to others and they'll think you're doing it. Besides, if you give up your SIM card, what would you be using with the new phone?

Well no. Like any other phone you remove the SIM since that's yours, your number etc.

Taking it out of course would prevent it from being used as a phone, but beyond that it still functions. Also of course once another SIM is put back in (assuming it is compatible) then it would be able to function as a phone again
