Your iPhone probably didn't have malware or Spyware to begin with. IPhones are more secure than pretty much anything else. I'm going to guess that you saw a scareware ad and thought it was real.
To answer your question, if you did have some type of infection, reseting the phone would remove it.
The problem with the iPhone or with a Google phone is that when you sign back in to your account it downloads whatever was on your phone before you reset it. When you factory reset either a Google phone or an iPhone it's safe until you sign back into your account. The only way to get rid of this problem is to use a computer go to your account and delete everything in it! Otherwise when you sign back into your cloud you're going to download the infection all over again. That's why I'm totally against having clouds! They backup your data but they also back up the infection.
An iPhone getting malware or spyware to begin with is something of an anomaly.
If it is reset then whatever was the cause would no longer be in play.
