In Dexter is the AFIS fingerprint iphone app actually a possibility?
With other equipment, maybe an overlay that scans or an attachment? Because I'm pretty sure the iphone can't scan a fingerprint, right?
No, the iPhone can't scan fingerprints. The writers pulled this out of thin air.
It's complete imagination.
There are apps that some how can scan in Android, like scanning a document or so, it's actually taking a photo of that document, and if you have a photo of a fingerprint, you won't be able to match it even if you have a database.
On a much more basic level, Dexter wouldn't even be able to use his Iphone wearing rubber gloves, as the touch screen is a capacitor type and this is blocked by most gloves.
Can the phone alone scan fingerprints, No. But developers have the ability to create 3rd party peripherals that can plug into the port at the bottom of the phone, thus allowing for the ability to do things the phone can't. For instance, the phone itself can't read a credit card, but if you get a Square reader you can swipe credit cards and accept payments right on the phone. There's also a device that plugs into the bottom of the phone for monitoring your blood sugar levels if you're diabetic. So in theory, if Dexter had a device plugged into the bottom of the phone he could take someone's fingerprints.
On a side note, it's absolutely possible for Dexter to be able to take a picture of a finger print and scan it through an app that scans AFIS to find a match. I'm sure in order to be admissible in court they would have to rescan it again back at the lab as I'm not sure how accurate the picture would be, but they could definitely use it as a starting point in the field.
Nope it can't! But i read that the FBI are testing the iphone with a fingerprint scanner that attaches to the 60pin connector and is called mobileone… I donno how they got away with that… Most guys know how a touchscreen works.must be a goof… IMDB here i come

- Why is everyone so psyched about fingerprint scan on the new iPhone? Motorola already did that so why isn't anyone giving Motorola any credit? @2nd answerer I know that. But Motorola already did that with their Motorola Atrix.

- Isn't there any iPhone app that actually lets you edit the text in a PDF file? The thing is that all apps I've ever seen let you make annotations only, and not delete one text in order to replace it with another. As powerful as Apple brags itself the CPU in the newest iPhone 6S Plus is (I have that very larger model), isn't there any app that conducts the OCR on a PDF file (or recognizes it in any other way), allowing for actual editing?
