Internet connection stops working on laptop and phone?

For awhile now I've noticed my internet stops working randomly. It happens when I'm connected to my laptop or iPhone. I don't think it's a dropped wireless signal because I still see I'm connected to my modem but there's no internet. What usually fixes the problem is to turn on airplane mode on and off so it reconnects. However, recently I've needed to physically disconnect and reconnect my modem to solve the problem. I'd also like to note that this doesn't really happen on a wired connection, I play online games on my PS4 using a wired connection and have never really been kicked out. I'm not completely clueless when it comes to these issues but I'm not really sure what I should do to fix it. I've messed around with Wi-Fi channels on my modem page and researched the issue but I didn't find anything. I've also contemplated buying a router but I'm not sure if it'll help.
By the way my ISP is AT&T (ADSL) if it matters. I'd really appreciate the help, thanks!

Do you have a combined modem and router, or are they two separate units? With a question like this it helps to include the relevant make and model details of modems and routers involved.

Wi-Fi is an interface between your devices (laptop and phone) and your router. If you are still connected to Wi-Fi, you should be able to log on to the router and see its status.

It sounds as though you are losing the Internet connection and it is not a problem with your Wi-Fi. However, if Ethernet continues to work, then this might challenge this.

You need to establish if the Wi-Fi will allow you to access the router.

As you have Wi-Fi, you already have a wireless router. A modem simply converts between the digital signals used by routers and computers and the analogue signals on the ISP (ADSL) connection. The router allows multiple devices to share the Internet connection, it assigns addresses to devices (using DHCP) and provides multiple Ethernet connections and a Wi-Fi network.

You will have to do some experiments to narrow down just where the problem lies.

I'm using a Windows 7 laptop and I can't connect to the internet, while my iPhone and mom's laptop has internet access. • Laptop gets slow internet connection, yet all my other devices get it at full speed? This never used to be an issue up until a few weeks ago, we had a 60MB connection that was buffed up to 100, my laptop used to download at around 5.5 - 6MB per second, whereas now its between 2 and 2.5, yet my iphone and all other computers in the house still get the full speed. I have checked the drivers which are all up to date, I can't discover the problem, what could be causing this? And how can I go about solving it?
