Invalid SIM card in my Unlocked iPhone 6s Plus?

I bought a new unlocked iPhone 6s Plus, I also have a Sprint locked iPhone 5s. I tried to put my Sprint SIM card from my 5s into the 6s and it says invalid SIM. Will the 5s card not work in the 6s? If so, why not? Can I get a new SIM card from Sprint so I can have the same number?

You bought a GSM phone, not a CDMA phone. Won't work with Sprint.

You will have to switch to either AT&T or T-Mobile. You can port your number to another carrier. Make sure you use the carrier that uses the same 3g and LTE frequencies or you will be stuck with 2G data.

Sprint is CDMA, your unlocked iPhone 6S+ might be GSM only so they're incompatible. You should've bought Sprint iPhone 6S+ instead of unlocked one.
