IPad 4 vs iPhone 5- Which retains it value $ better?
I'm trying to decide whether I should buy an
iPhone 5 or an iPad 4. I already have aphone so I
wouldn't be using the phone aspect of the
iPhone. I want a device with an A6 proccessor, so
it is between these two. I know that the iPad has
a slightly better chip (A6x-1.4ghz with quadcore
graphics rather than the iPhone's A6 -1.3ghz with
tricore graphics) but they are very similar. I plan
on getting an A7 device though a few months
after they are released and would like to know
what will be easier to sell and get more money for
on craigslist.com I heard ( http://
www.thefullsignal.com/apple/apple-ipad…
i… ) that the iPad 5 will be much thinner and
lighter, plus have a smaller border around the
screen and am concered that craigslist will be
flooded with iPad 4 devices because everyone will
want the thinner and lighter iPad. In fact some
people are not buying the iPad 4 at the moment
because they think that it is to clunky. I would
like to know what you guys think. Should I get
the iPad 4 because you think people will still hold
onto it when the five comes out or do you think I
should get the iPhone 5 becaus ethe iPad will
depreciate in value too much. I'm pretty
confident that iPhone 5 will still sell easily but I
would prefer the iPad because of the bigger
screen and a6x processor. I will only get the iPad
though if you guys don't think that it will
significantly drop in value because of the market
being flooded. Please let me know.
As far as retaining value both do, even an iphone 4 sells for alot on craigslist if its in good condition and thats several years old now.
The iPhone 5 is bigger, faster, everything. Try to get an iPhone 5, you don't know how much better they are.
As for the iPad, think about lugging it around everywhere. It's not exactly a device you can slip into your pocket…
So for me, hands down iPhone 5. I've been wanting an iPhone for AGES. But both devices are going to be outdated around August, this year. IPhone 5S, iPad 5…
And if you really care about value, iPhone wins there, too. Check eBay. Although, the condition really plays a big part in the value, however.
In the end, it doesn't really matter, they're both great devices.
But you should consider that the price will drop on both devices once they are outdated by their newest versions coming up. Keep that in mind.
I wouldn't buy a device simply to sell it in a few years, because either way, you're going to lose money.
Phones are always better at holding value. In fact, they're worth more than you think.
Most people think they're paying $199 for an iPhone 5, but that is not the case. That is a price subsidized by the carrier. The real price of a 16 GB iPhone 5 is $649, which is significantly more than a 16 GB ($499) or 32 GB ($599) iPad.
iPhones are always in demand. Apple is still selling the iPhone 4, which was released over 2 years ago, and there's still a demand for it! I found a factory unlocked iPhone 4 on Ebay for $150, which is a good price for a used phone.
But be aware that you'll be paying a lot for an iPhone: either $649 or $199 with a 2-year contract + cancellation fees. If you buy an iPad, it's $499 and that's it. No bills, no nothing (except if you get the 3G version, but it is no-commitment / no contract).
The iPad is still a great device. I found the first generation iPad online for $150, considering it's even clunkier than the iPad 4!
But don't even think about selling your previous generation device when the new one comes out. It's a horrible idea. For example, when the PS3 came out in '05, everyone wanted to sell their PS2's as soon as the PS3 came out. But no one wanted to buy a PS2, they wanted a PS3. They could only sell their PS2's for very low prices. They were not in demand at all. This same principle applies with all products, including Apple products.
I would advise to buy a device, hold onto it for a while, and sell it in a few years, if that's what you really want to do. Or you could not waste hundreds of dollars over a product you'll keep for a few months just to buy a new one. It's stupid.
- Which one is better to get: The iphone 5 or the ipad mini? I already have the 4th generation ipod touch, and a broken ipad 1. My parents said that i can buy the iphone 5 or the ipad mini.
- Which one is better? Iphone or ipad? I have saved up enough money and i was wondering which is better, i already have an ipod touch 4g, it's getting really slow now. Iphone 5/4S or ipad? @Iceman- I Agree
- Which is better the Iphone 5s or the 5c i'm trying to decide which one is better? And what's the difference between these two phones can someone tell me please? I'm trying to decide which one to buy?
