Iphone 3gs charging problem?

I have 2 usb chargers for my iphone one from argos and one apple and they have both worked uptill yesterday and i charged it the night before and charged full and when i try with either it says device not compatable with either and didn't charge so now its dead and iv tried cleaning both the iphone and charger and still no luck any ideas or advice (its iphone3gs) thanks.

I personally NEVER use chargerrs for my iPhone UNLESS it is from and made by Apple, simply because of this problem right here. You get a charger because it cost way cheaper or because it's 10 feet long. But in the long run, what you're probably going to end up doing is messing up your battery or frying your charger port because the charger isn't supplying enough amps or power current to the phone, or it's sending too much and it'll overdo the plug and just fry it.

Apple deliberately design their products to only work with their accessories. One reason to avoid them and go for another smartphone.

Are you charging from a computer USB or from the mains? Charging from computer USB sockets is a sure way to screw batteries as the current is so low, it screws batteries. Also the current may be so low that your iphone thinks there's no charge, hence the device not compatible' message.

Have you taken the battery out of your iphone, plugged the charger in, then replaced the battery? That may work. Clean the battery terminals in both the iphone and on the battery itself. Use a little surgical spirit and a cotton bud. Avoid touching the plastic.

If it's an iphone 3GS, the battery may have reached the end of its life. Can you try your battery in another iphone with the same charger? See if it charges or not.

Buy new charger.

IPhone 3Gs, as you should know, is an old phone, and one of the main problems when it was constructed is the battery life. This is were the problems begin, with the iPhone 3Gs it had not been out very long and the battery all together was not up to it's best quality, this is why there has been quite a few new iPhones since then, a lot of it to do with battery/charging problems.

This will happen to all the old iPod's as well, the charge will begin to run out quicker, and then one day they just stop. You will have to change the battery in the iPhone itself or buy a new iPhone all together. (remember changing the battery without sending it to Mac could get rid of your warranty)

TIP: If you leave your charger in for long periods then the battery life becomes less useful and the battery will run out more quickly.
