IPhone 3GS on Straighttalk
I recently changed my iPhone 4 from AT&T to Straighttalk, without a hitch. Not a single problem once I got all of the APN settings set the way they need to be.
My dad's iPhone 3GS, on the other hand, I'm having a lot of difficulty with. It's running iOS 5.1.1 and it WAS running BB 5.16.05. The only thing I could find online to do was upgrade it to iPad BB 6.15.00, granted that it was made after a certain week of a certain year. All was fine, and it upgraded no problem. I'm still getting No Service. The SIM is active, and I've even found a way to downgrade the BB to 05.13.04, and done so. I installed SAM and ran it like I was supposed to, and still nothing. I've restored it probably 3 times. It's jailbroken. I don't know what else to do. Right now my dad doesn't have a phone and I don't know what else to do to get it working. Straighttalk customer service is no help, either. I'm hoping someone here could maybe help me? I'm at a total loss and I don't want to go through all of this trouble for nothing.
First, wipe the phone and restore it to factory original/vanilla status-- or at least get it to a point where it's behaving like an iPod Touch.
Next, get onto Wi-Fi with the phone and head over to http://www.unlockit.co.nz/unlockit/.
Now, download the APN settings for the Straight Talk network in the US.It'll load a profile and the machine will complain about security, but don't worry about it. Install the profile.
Make sure your Straight Talk SIM is active and then get the heck off Wi-Fi and start enjoying the bliss of 3G service on Straight Talk. For more info check out www.straighttalksim.com.
avoid their phone service.
P.S. Apple has a free iPhone configuration utility too. If you have access to your own web-server, you can distribute your own profile. The Straight Talk site provides APN values for you to set.
- Would an iPhone 5 work on Straighttalk? Okay, so I'm getting an iPhone 5 in a few months, and I use StraightTalk. Will an AT&T iPhone 5 work with straight talk if i order one of the AT&T compatible sim cards off the ST website? I use an AT&T compatible ST SIM card with an AT&T LG Quantum C900. Also, could I get an AT&T iPhone 5 from an AT&T store without putting it on a plan or no?
- Why won't my iphone from straighttalk send pictures? Whenever i try to send pictures, it just says "message failed" I can send pictures to other iphones but when i try to send it to a regular phone, it wil not let me.
- Using the iPhone 4S on StraightTalk? If I bought the iPhone 4S and purchased a StraightTalk SIM card, would I be able to use the iPhone on StraightTalk, or would I have to unlock the phone first and then use it?
- Straighttalk iPhone SIM activation for already Straighttalk activated phone? It says I need a $45 service plan card to activate the SIM card, but is there a way to do it without? My phone has $45 service plan active right now, my SIM card is just malfunctioning, so I need a new one. Or do I have to do it when I refill, no other option?
