Iphone 3gs unlock help? (new bootrom)?

I have just bought a used iphone 3gs off Ebay and its got ios 6.1.3 and the baseband is 05.16.08 i'll be fine if i have to have a tethered jailbreak but its a new bootrom model… Is there anyway of downgrading to a previous baseband so i can unlock my phone?

Yes just download iPhone 3gs ios 6.0 ipsw and latest redsnow. In redsnow go to extra and press select ipsw and select ios 6.0 you just downloaded go back and press jailbreak put your devices in dfu and begain.
After it finish put you devices in dfu again and select ios 6.0 and press just boot option in exta menu
for baseband selet ios 6.0 again and click jailbreak and unselect every thing and now select only install ipad baseband and read all the warnings then continue after it finish do all the steps again and this time select only downgrade from ipad baseband and you r done
REMEMBER this is theater jailbreak so you have to just boot ever time you restart thats all.

You can just purchase an iphone unlock from ebay for 6-8$. Just find a good seller with positive feedback, buy the unlock and specify the imei number of your iphone. Give the seller this information and in about a day, your iphone will be factory unlocked

So i'm in need of a firmware update to 5.1.1 and an unlock, seeing as i don't want to get it factory unlocked, i'm just going to use the cydia app that does it for me. Only problem is my boot rom, i don't know if its old or new, i used a program that says i have the new boot rom, but then my iphone was made in (Week:01, 01/2010), and part of the serial number is 001.
