My iphone 3gs bootrom, is it old or new?

So i'm in need of a firmware update to 5.1.1 and an unlock, seeing as i don't want to get it factory unlocked, i'm just going to use the cydia app that does it for me. Only problem is my boot rom, i don't know if its old or new, i used a program that says i have the new boot rom, but then my iphone was made in (Week:01, 01/2010), and part of the serial number is 001. Which i though is the old boot rom, so which one is it? New or old?

Hi, any iphone are old boot rom according to software and according to serial number they are new b.r and vice versa, but i would say download latest redsn0w and go to extra then even more and then click on identify and put your iphone in dfu mode and it will tell you your boot rom… Softwares are more accurate as many iphone are built in 35th week but some are old B. R and some are new B. R

  • Old iPhone with old sim card? Mum just got a new iPhone, so gave her old one to my sister. My sister did not have an appropriate sized sim card, so they guy at the store cut it down. Mum's new sim card is working, but when we put my sisters in the old phone, it just keeps saying no service. What do we do? Can we use it or not?

I have just bought a used iphone 3gs off Ebay and its got ios 6.1.3 and the baseband is 05.16.08 i'll be fine if i have to have a tethered jailbreak but its a new bootrom model… Is there anyway of downgrading to a previous baseband so i can unlock my phone?
