IPhone 4 dropped in water a long time ago?

So my brother dropped his iPhone 4 in water a while ago (approx.last summer)
He never tried putting it in rice and just bought himself a new phone but still kept his defective iPhone 4. Today, I found it in it's box and tried plugging it into the wall to see if it was going to start charging, it didn't open but it vibrated once.

I was just wondering if it's worth it to try putting it in rice? Or is there no point? I don't think it would work but I'm thinking I should maybe give it a shot! What are your thoughts?

The rice technique at this point will not work the damage has been done. What you could do is search ebay for iphone 4 repair a lot of people will repair your phone for like $40!

Internally the metal parts will corrode, Apple will deny fixing it, even if its within warranty.

The phone is toast, sorry.

Why not? My friend did it and it worked!

  • How long does it take an iPhone to recharge after it had been dead a long time? My cousin just gave me her old iPhone 5. It's in good condition but it's been sitting in her drawer for months. I don't know how many months but a pretty long while. Anyways, i out it on the charger and it hasn't moved from the red. It's been on maybe… At least a half hour. Is it okay? I don't know anything about these machines lol.
  • Is there an easy way to read messages from a really long time ago? I have this conversation with someone and I haven't deleted any messages. I want to read messages from over a year ago but don't want to keep clicking on the button to go back farther because that will take a very long time. I have an iPhone 4s. Is there an easier way to do this?
  • IPhone dropped in water for second time I feel so dumb lol but I was kinda messing around on it before turning it off (I know I shouldnt have) and it had the screen w the lines so I was wondering if putting it in rice will still help? I haven't plugged it in or anything
  • I dropped my Iphone in water - no water damage showing on indicator? Here is the situation. I dropped my Iphone 5 in the toilet (I hadn't peed yet so all good there). Immediately switched it off, dried it and put it in a bag of rice. This was at about 6 p.m yesterday. This morning without turning it on I opened up the sim compartment to check the circle for water damage (checked online and apparently this is where to check for water damage). The indicator was white. It is back in the rice but I was wondering - when you think it will be ok to turn back on?
