Iphone 4s can't connecting to 3g network?

So basically i can't get it to connect to the 3g network only connecting to my Wi-Fi.

its on contract so i'm able to get all the 3g business and that: P
i got my iphone 4s today so do i have to wait a while for it to set up completely or somthing, i can send and receive texts and phone calls, just can't connect to the 3g network

I confess I know NOTHING of Apple IPHONES, but do know the 'answer'
APN aka Access Point Name

Access Point Name (APN) is a computer protocol that typically allows a user's computer to access the Internet using the mobile phone network.

So when you connect to the internet it is EITHER by 3G or Wi-Fi, the phone has a unique APN for each.

re Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi does 2 things turns OFF the 3G signal and turns ON Wi-Fi, After using Wi-Fi you have to re connect to 3G

Turning Wi-Fi off is just that turning Wi-Fi OFF, 3G is still off in that it is now pointing to the Wi-Fi 'address', So the internet icon will not connect you to the 3G internet.

So to use Wi-Fi you activate it… But AFTER using Wi-Fi…
You have to do ONE MORE procedure to reconnect to 3G

Where you now change it to the APN (the network) and each time after you use Wi-Fi
ALSO… If say you have ADD another Wi-Fi eg Wi-Fi (2) Cafe
Same thing applies, say Wi-Fi (1) is your home hub you need to switch from Wi-Fi (2) to Wi-Fi (1) to use home hub after using cafe or 3G if you want network internet

Settings stay the same until you change them which is due to your location (change)

Somewhere in the Iphone "Settings" Connectivity /Networks you will see your Wi-Fi box is ticked and name, change this to network eg "O2 active" and 3G is reconnected TA DAH
(A=address tells your phone where to connect to the internet )

  • Wi-Fi on iPhone keeps saying unable to join network (my network name)? How can I fix this! It's been like this for a week but it works on my laptop fine. I tried unplugging it for a few seconds, I tried resetting network settings, I tried turning my phone off then on again, and I know I'm typing it right. I even typed it in upper case AND lower case. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

  • Looking for a way to evenly share network speed in a house network? So my problem is that I play games online, that need a good ping. Whenever anyone from any other computer goes to load a video on youtube in a high quality, it takes up all the speed, gives me more than 400 ping and just pretty much cuts everyone else out. Is there a way to share the network evenly between every user? Our download speed is about 6mb/s, so if we have 4 active users, i'd like it to share it like 1.5mb/s each.
