My phone carrier is (at&t) i don't have insurance on it but have warranty still on it.
Rice will not dry up oil! I suspect your phone is done for. Good luck getting factory warranty to cover that.
That said oil is not electrically conductive so it should not hurt the electrics themselves, however I doubt the touch screen will work and your microphone and speaker will be ruined too.
You are going to eat that phone one way or another. Sorry to say your phone is cooked. Sorry, this post just isn't offering any hope, good luck.
Well you should be alright from an electrical standpoint, vegetable oil should be be dielectric and non-corrosive. It should be perfectly safe to try to turn it on. However, it will not dry up like water would so it may be a problem if it got behind the screen. You may want to look into a guide on taking the phone apart to clean it out if this is the case.
No warranty covers dropping it in oil. Time to buy a new phone.
- Why is there rainbow oil things on my screen when it's off? I have a iPhone 5 and I bought a life proof case for it. I put it on and took off my screen protector like it said. But now when it's off it has rainbow oil things all over the screen. Is this bad or what's going on? Is there a way to fix it?
- What should I do to make sure my iPhone 4s still works after it fell in the toilet? My iPhone fell in the toilet yesterday and I put it in a bowl of rice for 24 hours. I took it out and charged it and it worked. I want to make sure that it won't glitch and die, so should I keep it in a bowl of rice while charging it for a day? I also noticed that when I was charging it at first, it started heating up… Should I be concerned?
