Iphone 4s is stuck on connect to itunes screen and won't read sim card?

So i recently purchased a second hand iphone 4s.
it is stuck on that screen that says "iphone slide to unlock, then select language, country, Wi-Fi, connect to itunes" i have connected it to itunes but it is not reading the sim. So itunes says please insert a sim and disconnect and restart".
the iphone dose have a sim in it. But i'm not sure what to do.

Added (1). Also the phone is unlocked.

Are you sure its the right network.

You iphone might not be unlocked, try finding out what network it runs on then insert that network of sim

Remove your sim and restart the phone without putting in the sim. Now try connecting and waiting for it to ask for the sim card. Put it in and see what happens. If no go, then restart again with the sim card in place and try again. If still no go, then chances are either the phone is busted and can't read a sim card for some reason, or your sim card is scratched somewhere and can't be read (maybe your old phone could, but every phone is different and touchy in different ways).

I would take it in to Apple and see what they think if the above doesn't work.

I have an iphone 4S and it reads Att sim card no problem, i had the phone factory unlocked and it even said Congratulations your iPhone is unlocked after i restored it in iTunes, but all it says is no service i tried two different T-Mobile sim cards.
