IPhone 4s problem? I can't figure this out?

My iPhone 4s won't turn on what-so-ever. Its almost 3 years old now. I went on the apple forums and tried everything that threw at me. Nothing at all. I even tried plugging it in to iTunes, Nothing. Could this be the battery of the iPhone? Details of the iPhone: 16 GB iPhone 4s, Bought May 27th, 2011. Has a crack on the back of the phone.

I'm like dying without my iPhone, Its like I'm attached to it.

Added (1). @Texperson Its been cracked for 6 months now, I don't think thats the problem actually

Could be the battery but more likely whatever caused the crack in the phone may have damaged something inside the phone. Take it to a repair place to have it checked out.

Hold down the home button and the bottom at the top at the same time for 10-to-30 seconds that should turn it on

I had this same problem last night with my daughter's iPhone 5 (bought December 2012) and wasn't able to get it working again. I was on the line with Verizon and they had me try different combinations of plugging and unplugging, holding down different buttons, etc. Eventually I gave up and had them activate my daughter's old Blackberry. Luckily I hold onto all of our old phones. My only option is to take it to Apple.

If it won't turn on then take it to an Apple store, if they put a new battery in then you will basically have a brand new phone again (with a crack)
