IPhone 4S won't connect to new router?

My dad bought a new router today. We set it up and all the computers in the house are running internet connections on it completely fine. However, I go to connect it to my iPhone and every time I attempt to join the network a popup comes up and says "Unable to join network." I've attempted to reset the network settings and reboot my phone but neither of those has seemed to work. I'm good with laptops and stuff but I'm not all technical with them so can someone please help me out here and give me step by step instructions on how to fix this problem? It would mean so much to me!

You said you're good with laptops and stuff, can you Check router settings?

Go to the network on your phone and click forget network and than attempt it again it will work

Let me guess… Is the wireless security WEP? What I found with my iPhone 4 was that it would not do WEP. Likely the same is true of the 4S.
