Iphone 5 got wet. Worked. Not anymore. Trying to get info off it?

I got my iphone 5 wet on saturday by jumping in a pool thinking my case was 100% waterproof, but it isn't! I got it out of the case and set it in rice for a day and worked after that. So three days later, I was listening to music on my iphone comepletly gave out. I went to turn it on and got nothing, so I plugged it into the wall, and the apple sign shows up, but after two seconds stops and happens again. Just for the hell of it, I kept it plugged into the wall for about three hours and it kept going. I do however have an Iphone coming in the mail because of insurance, but I do not have ANY of my data from my last iphone (contacts, music, info).

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TO DO TO POSSIBLY GET MY INFORMATION BACK! I don't care if the phone never turns on again, I just really need it back!

Normally all that info should back up automatically and you would have to do when you get your replacement is login to your apple account. It should download all your info. Hopefully you didn't disable the auto backup function on your old one.

Rice does not absorb water unless it is in direct contact with the water. Many people think rice does something because just like you experienced, the phone turned on, but that obviously doesn't mean your phone was dry. Once you saw problems, your best bet would have been to turn off your phone immediately. Plugging it in is the worst thing you can possibly do with a wet device. Running electricity through a wet electronics device just continues to fry everything.

At this point it is likely dead. You can try contacting http://www.tekdry.com/ but knowing it was plugged in so long leads me to doubt they could recover it. If you have data on your SD card you can try putting that in a new phone and see if it can be read. However data on your phone's main drive is probably lost.

  • Which is more accurate regarding the details of an iphone, iphoneimei.info or imei.info? When I look up the IMEI of my broken iphone 5s on iphoneimei.info it says it's 16gb and when I look it up on imei.info it says it's 32gb… Which site is more accurate? The iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not power on unless connected and it won't tell me the storage capacity in itunes.
  • My iPhone will not charged and I have tried everything to make it try to charge, but nothing has worked When I try to charge my iPhone it will say "this accessory may not be supported." I went to Apple and they tried to reset the settings and the whole phone, but it still did not work. I have tried different chargers too and even at Apple I tried to charge my phone using all the chargers there too. What can I do to fix it? When I charge my phone I have to completely turn it off and it is starting to bug me now.
  • My Iphone 5 got wet. Can I take it into Apple to get fixed? The indicator did not go off. But the headphone jack is messed up and makes my music sound horrible. Also, my home button does not work. Is there anyway to maybe fix it?
  • IPhone got wet, speakers not working? IPhone got wet a month ago, works perfectly after rice and vacuuming it, except no sound comes out from the speakers but I can still make calls with it. Other sounds from apps and the like can only be heard when headphones are on. Would it work if I used any of those iHorn amplifiers on this?
