IPhone 5 speaker damaged

Okay so I just dropped my phone in my cup of water. It was just the bottom. But the speaker doesn't sounds so good. What should I do?

That happened to me too. I was in the rain and the speakers didn't work so well after that. The reason why this happens is because the water gets stuck in the speakers a little and muffles the sound.

Although it may be your instinct to shake the phone to try to get the water out, it may spread the water around the phone and although may help the speaker problem, it will spoil the internal parts of your iPhone eventually. If you have already shook your phone don't panic.

I don't know if this works, but people say putting it into a bag of uncooked rice works and reviews for that method are good. Some people say the uncooked rice can get into the internet components of the iPhone and when expanded, it can spoil the phone, but do you really think the rice can get into the phone? The rice is quite big in my opinion. Even if they get into your ports, you can simply knock it out.

So try if you can, putting your iPhone into a bag of uncooked rice. Leave it in, overnight and maybe it will solve the problem.

When this happened to my phone, I put it into a bag of uncooked rice, but took it out after like 5 mins although the problem was still there. I was going to receive an urgent call so I didn't really care about the speakers cause I needed to take the call. Automatically, the water started clearing up and the speakers were back to normal.

However, my iPhone was caught in the rain so the water droplets were smaller than yours. So it is recommended that you put it into a bag of uncooked rice. I'm confident your phone isn't permanently damaged by the way you describe it.
