My iphone 5C ios 8 suddenly went to black and white display? - 1

I've searched all over the web to see if I'm alone with this problem and thus far, it seems I'm! I assumed it was a bug with the new iOS 8 release… And wasn't too worried about it because of that…

But when I searched for the problem for a solid 45 minutes or more and still couldn't find ONE person with this same issue, it had me a little concerned! (Almost creepy! Lol)

Anybody out there seen this? Everything is working perfectly normally and the phone is jsut fine. It's just completely lacking any color whatsoever… I'm completely at a loss here!

This is not a bug. IPhones let you set things up this way (for example, if you're color-blind, a B/W screen can be easier to read). This is easy to fix.

Most likely you turned on the accessibility ("low vision") feature, by mistake. IOS has many options for people who have difficulty with their vision. One of the options makes your screen become B/W (actually all shades of gray).

1) Start the "Settings" app (its icon is grey with round gears).
2) Choose "General" >> "Accessibility".
3) Look for the "Grayscale" option/button -- make sure it's off.
That should make everything "color" again.

To further improve how things look, you can also do this (if you want):
4) Choose "Increase Contrast" and try out some of these settings.
5) Turn on "Bold Text", "Larger Text", "Button Shapes"… Etc.

Don't see how it could suddenly do that but that is a setting for those that need it. Check

Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > Color Filters

I'm an iOS Technical Advisor with Apple. Since you have a 5c it should be new enough to still be under a warranty, Give us a call at 1-800-My Apple. We will either fix it or replace the phone for you if we can't. But I have a suggestion that will work if your problem is a software issue. Put it in the recovery mode. You turn the phone off, open I tunes on your computer, hold down the home button on the phone and then plug the phone into your computer. When the iTunes symbol shows up on your phone you can let go of the button. Your comp will say it sees a device in recovery mode. If that does not work call us. Ask for a senior advisor
