IPhone in app purchases refund

Around 3 years ago I bought some in app purchases for a game that I used to play. 1 year later I eventually deleted that same game. I recently re-downloaded that game, only to learn that it has been shutdown permanently (I contacted the app developers and they confirmed that the game was done for and not coming back). So my question is, how do I get a refund for the in app purchases I made for that game? Since I can no longer play it.

I'd double check the TOS first because more than likely, you agreed to something that would prohibit a refund. For example, this is just one that I googled (I expect they'll be the same all over) - http://www.gameofwarapp.com/termsofservice.html If you read section 10, anyone making an in-app purchase agrees that they in no way 'own' any digital content, that the content has no 'value' and can't be redeemed for cash. Also it notes there are no refunds or any compensation for unusable purchases whether you close your own account or something else caused you do stop being able to use it.

You don't. Especially for purchases made 3 years ago. You got the benefit of the game when it was live. Just because they took it down doesn't mean you get a refund.
