IPhone calendar notifications?
Every day at noon my phone goes off and lists everyone's birthday who's friends with me on Facebook. How do i turn this off?
Our first stop is the iPhone's Calendar app. Open it up, then tap the Calendars button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
You can set your iPhone to automatically remind you of birthdays by tweaking your calendar settings-or, if you wish, you can turn off birthday alerts altogether.
Scroll to the bottom of the Calendars page, and you'll find a "Birthdays" calendar under the "Other" heading. If you want reminders on your iPhone for the birthdays of all your contacts, your first step is to make sure the "Birthdays" calendar is checked. Don't want to see any birthdays listed in the iPhone's Calendar app? Then tap "Birthdays" to un-check it.
If you've connected your iPhone to your Facebook account (which you can do by tapping Settings, Facebook, and then keying in your username and password), you'll also see a "Birthdays" calendar listed under the "Facebook" heading. Again, make sure you've got the "Birthdays" calendar for Facebook checked if you want birthday reminders for your Facebook pals-or unchecked if you don't.
Next, open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars," scroll down to the Calendars section, then tap Default Alert Times. You should see three options: Birthdays, Events, and All-Day Events.
Tap Birthdays, then pick a default time for birthday reminders: on the same day, the day before, two days before, or a week before. Don't want to be bothered with birthday alerts? Then pick "none."
Don't forget that you can pick a style (anything from unobtrusive banners to show-stopping alerts) for your all Calendar reminders, including those for impending birthdays.
Thanks. Very helpful.
Done this dozens of times, but the notifications keep coming back! I don't have facebook, and have no idea where these largely inaccurate dates come from. Some of these people I have no other contact for besides a name and home address, thus 0 place for birthday info to even be pulled from. Mine appear as reminders initially labeled "last visit" and the person's name. When I open them they are labeled in icalendar as "This is (name of person)'s special day." Dates appear to be chosen at random, and some days I 5 or more of these useless notifications in a row. How do I get them to stop for good?
Note: today I noticed one said it was on my contact calendar instead of my birthday calendar, despite ical settings showing both birthday and contact calendars are already turned off.
- Why does iPhone automatically delete calendar events from months ago? And how do I make it stop? I use my iPhone calendar a lot and sometimes I rely on it by scrolling to previous months to see when I went for certain appts but it automatically deletes last events without asking? I know I can make special events like bdays repeat weekly or yearly but some events don't require that function, I just want to know when I went to my appts for example, what day and time it was my dentist appt. Can anyone help?
- Syncing iPhone/Mac calendar? I've already synced the calendar on my mac with my iphone but I was wondering if it already did or if there's any way to where if I were to add something to my calendar on my phone it would sync and automatically add that event to my mac?
- Safari and calendar won't open on my iPhone 4? So i try to open my safari and it'll try to open but eventually end up crashing as well as my calendar. I've tried resetting my settings and hasn't helped at all.
- Random event on my iPhone calendar? It's really weird there's just like this event on the 25th May saying Taylor Urias's birthday, and I definitely didn't put it there, I have no idea who that is! Every time I try and delete it it just comes straight back, it's really annoying! I don't sync my calendar to the computer or anything so it can't be that. Does anyone know what it is and how to get rid of it?
